Etomidate is a go-to induction agent in neuro anesthesia for a reason: predictable hypnosis via GABA-A receptor facilitation, decreased CMRO₂, CBF, and ICP, and excellent hemodynamic stability that helps preserve cerebral perfusion pressure. Just remember its effects on somatosensory-evoked potentials—both amplitude and latency can increase, which matters when neuromonitoring is in play.
