Okapi have multiple ways of marking their territory including a scent gland on each foot which releases a tar-like substance to indicate the area is theirs. The Okapi Conservation Project (OCP) works with the Institute Congolaise pour la Conservation do la Nature (ICCN) to support and improve the livelihood of local people and their environment. This includes an agroforestry programme that helps provide seeds and training to improve farming yields using sustainable practices.
