Rounds of showers and thunderstorms today
Rounds of storms are likely Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Another couple of wintry/snowy rounds looms for the end of the week. Two systems have the potential bring wintry weather and measurable snow to the Upper Midwest, first Thursday into Friday, and again Friday into Saturday.
High wildfire risk winds down this evening, and our next weather maker arrives tomorrow. Tuesday and Wednesday are First Alert Weather Days because of mountain snow that can cause difficult travel.
Some clearing and sunshine is possible in the afternoon. This will allow temperatures to jump into the 70s. It would also, theoretically, increase the risk of a few strong storms later in the evening as a prefrontal trough slides through. It will not rain all day long.
It will be another warm day with highs in the low to mid-80s. Winds will also remain gusty out of the south over 30 miles per hour throughout the afternoon. The beginning of an unsettled pattern is set to arrive on Wednesday with some rain possible,
